Importance of Adaptation
Adaptation is essential in order to to survive and move ahead in the world. The ability to adapt to people, situations and surroundings affords people a greater opportunity to get what they want and what they need. Without the ability to adapt, people may find themselves stuck in situations far longer than is necessarily and unable to reach their goals.
Environment
The process of adaptation is the ability of learning to thrive in your surroundings. Whether it's geographical, as in a new home in a different state or a new job in a particular office, you must be able to assess how the present environment works and how to best fit into it. This includes the actual physicality of the space. If you are used to a certain type of climate, space and energy, then you must adjust accordingly in order to find comfort that will make the environment amenable.
Situations
Being able to adapt to the endless social, business and familial interactions that arise throughout ones lifetime is important in retaining one's success, happiness and sanity. One of the keys to successful adaptation, is understanding and accepting that things don't always go according to plan. If you walk into a situation expecting a certain outcome, you need to be willing to compromise and be prepared for your plans to be altered in the name of the situation turning out the best in the long run.
People
It is vital that people posses the capability of adapting to the people around them. If not, life is an endless uphill battle of never getting along with anyone due to stubbornness and shortsightedness. Being able to adapt to the different customs, beliefs, and behavior of others, whether they are foreign, family or friends gives affords the opportunity to learn from them and see what about them and they way they live can be of benefit to you.
The Inability to Adapt
The inability or lack of willingness to adapt can have a high price over the course of one's lifetime. A resistance to accept the way the world, technology, people, weather, living situations, economics and climate changes can create a never-ending path of frustration. The ability to adapt is essentially the ability to evolve with the world around you. Fighting it leads to broken relationships, bankruptcy, not being prepared for change and therefore being left behind technologically, socially and financially speaking. The end result is a great deal of heartache at the expense of your esteemed pride and stubbornness.
Rewards
The reward for adapting is a richer, fuller and happier life. By committing to change as the world around you changes, it allows you to discover parts of yourself that might have remained in the dark. The natural evolution that takes place results as a result to adapting to the people, places and situations you encounter encourages experiences with greater depth and meaning. Resisting change is ultimately stressful, therefore learning to adapt and go with the flow insures a happier, healthier lifestyle.
