Layout of the Letter
Written in a business letter format, all elements of your letter should be aligned to the left margin. Include your address and the date the letter was written. The WhiteHouse.gov website suggests adding your email address in addition to your mailing address. Skip a single space, and write the following:
President of the United States 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue Washington, DC 20500.
Skip another line and write: Dear Mr. President. Next, include the body of your letter. End with a closing and your name.
